SURVIVING THROUGH MENTAL HEALTH:
A COMMUNITY CONVERSATION
In partnership with Councilwoman Danica Royster and the City of Norfolk Community Services Board this public forum promoted a dialogue on how Mental Health shows up in our communities. The event drew nearly 300 attendees and featured 20 community organizations that provided essential resources and support. Due to the event’s success, we are expanding this initiative into a series, aiming to reach even more individuals and amplify access to mental health education.
HOW PROJECT ORF CONTRIBUTES TO MENTAL HEALTH
“I met Shawnice last summer and I really enjoyed her non-traditional approach towards mental health. Working with her, I was able to identify my unknown traumas and I even learn coping skills that I still use to this day. I left being able to support myself on my own mental health journey. Which is why I was really excited when I learned that she was starting her own nonprofit following the same guidelines that helped me become the person I am today. My name is Honey and I am a supporter of Project ORF.”
